Video Production
Bowling
Green State University, 8 am 1 pm
Learn the
lingo of video production (i.e. storyboarding, voice-overs, b-roll),
camera techniques, and other related equipment, as well as discussing
the value of using video in the classroom to increase student
achievement. In addition, participants will be introduced to the basics
of video editing with iMovie (Mac) or Windows Movie Maker (Windows),
working towards a short, video product by the end of the third day of
instruction. Although not required, participants are encouraged to bring
along the digital video camera that they may be using in their
classroom.
Target Audience: Tech Prep instructors
Ashland College graduate credit pending (1 hour)

Senior Projects!!
Toledo Technology
Academy, Room 273, 8 am 3 pm
Attendees will go
through the three Ps for senior projects: Paper, Project and
Presentations. The senior project manual will be distributed to teachers
and will be walked through the process.

Course of Study
Toledo Technology
Academy, Room 273, 8 am 3 pm daily
Work with colleagues to develop the TCP Course of Study
for your Tech Prep program. You will be provided with practical
assistance and computer templates to facilitate the development of your
course of study. New instructors are expected to have an approved course
of study for their Tech Prep program and should attend this valuable
workshop. Participants should bring with them: School philosophy,
grading policy and scale, primary text and materials.
Target Audience: Tech Prep instructors developing or updating
their TP course of study utilizing the TCP

Inquiry-Based Learning
Toledo Technology
Academy, Room 273, 8 am 3 pm
Inquiry-based instruction is an instructional strategy
designed to involve students in real-world type business and industry
problems. The students are guided by the instructor to search for
answers and solutions to problems and work cooperatively in teams. Most
instructors are used to using projects within their classes.
Inquiry-based instruction is designed to get the students deeper into
the curriculum with real-world problems; the challenge for teachers is
the instructional management of the process. This workshop will show
teachers how to design the inquiry-based project and manage the class
during the project. Resources and ideas will be provided to teachers.

The Academy provides an introduction to the Tech Prep
curriculum process and instructional strategies. It is designed to
assist new instructors or tech prep teams in understanding Tech Prep
philosophy and structure. This is a minimum recommendation for all new
Tech Prep teachers!
Target Audience: Instructors new to Tech Prep and those who have never
taken the Academy
Tech Prep will pay registration fee of $100
$150 stipend

the Trainer Workshop

The provider (facilitator) is the American Red Cross. This will provide
participants with a certification to teach First Responder to their
students. Participants must pass a pre-test to participate in the
training.

Teaching with a
SMART Board and Notebook Software
Friday, June 13th, 9am-2:30pm
In this hands-on session, teachers will gain new SMART
skills for their SMART Board and SMART Notebook Software. With a SMART
Board Interactive Whiteboard and Notebook software, teachers have the
ability to make lesson plans interactive and motivational while at the
same time increasing their own creativity. This session will focus on
the use of SMART Boards and SMART Notebook Software in the K-12
classroom, creating lessons aligned to state standards while motivating
and engaging students.
Pre-Requisite: Must have the hardware and software needed for SMART
Board and SMART Notebook software installed in your classroom. Must be
able to turn on both the hardware and software |

Google Earth: Basics
and Better
Monday, June 23rd, 9am-2:30pm
Participants will receive an overview of Google Earth,
going over the basics of the program before looking at the more advanced
features. Make placemarks for attaching information, photographs and
hyperlinks. Use GE to save, use and share geographical data and more, as
well as how to overlay other aerial photographs and historic maps.

This workshop will assist you in developing: -Your Own
Classroom Homepage with Homework Calendar - Displays of student work and
photos - Web-based communication with Blogs & Discussion Boards in a
safe environment. Educators will be guided through the process of
creating a BYOW account and oriented to the BYOW System at this
hands-on, informative workshop |
